Roo is a high drive/high energy blue merle with white bi that came from Turkey Run, a breeder in Kentucky that has produced many outstanding working and performance dogs. His sire, Certik, is well known for winning the great honor of Most Versatile Aussie at ASCA Nationals for 4 years in a row!
Roo is a fun, happy dog that is always excited to try new things. Roo is currently competing and training in a wide variety of sports, tricks, and even doggy parkour! He has had a strong herding instinct and desire to work from a very young age. Although he has not yet been trialed he has been introduced to sheep and ducks and is currently in training to compete. He has a high toy/tug/ball drive and medium food drive. His flashy, unique appearance gets him noticed everywhere we go and he enjoys meeting new people. Although he is a very go, go, go dog when out working, training, etc he is my velcro dog in the house and enjoys spending his off days cuddling on the couch. Roo is an intelligent, exuberant dog making him a fun and challenging sports partner and an adventurous horse riding trail buddy! See below for some of Roo's current accomplishments and goals!
Dock Diving
Roo's love of toys makes Dock Diving his favorite sport. He began his dock diving career early in 2018 quickly earning his Dock Junior and Dock Senior titles. He continues to improve with every event and hit a personal best of 18'2" in his first season! Unfortunately our move to Hawaii limited us to just one season of dock diving and we have had to take a break for the time being due to lack of dock diving venues in the area. However, he enjoys practicing in the waves of the ocean when we visit the beach!
Agility
Roo has a lot of speed but is still capable of navigating difficult courses making him an excellent agility partner! His confidence allows him to easily accept new equipment and surfaces. He has a great natural understanding of handling and is quick to pick up on new skills and techniques. He has been competing in CPE agility since late 2017 and with just a few trials has made his way to level 5 in Jumpers! He is currently competing in level 3 in the other games that he has more recently started. Due to a move we have put a hold on trials but continue to train and prepare for future trials.
AKC Fast CAT
This is a fun sport to highlight a dog's speed, athletic ability, drive, and focus. Roo has earned his BCAT title in just a couple events and has legs towards his DCAT title! He loves getting to run full speed in this sport and luckily it is a sport that has a couple events a year in Hawaii.
Tricks
Trick training is one of my favorite activities and Roo is a lot of fun to work with as he picks up on new behaviors very quickly! Roo is a thinking dog and a natural problem solver that enjoys a good challenge. He has earned 4 titles through AKC for tricks by completing 10 different tricks for each his TKN, TKI, TKA, and TKP titles!
